In his long career, Mr. Bergel has been President of the Supreme Court of Justice of La Pampa province; member of the Commission appointed by the Executive Branch of the Federal Government to write the text of the law of Arbitration and Conciliation in civil and commercial conflicts; member of the Commission in charge of writing the text of the Bankruptcy Law, appointed by the Ministry of Justice (1992); member of the Commission appointed by the Executive Branch of the Federal Government to write the text of the Code of Obligations (Decree 468/92); co-writer of the Enterprise Statute for the Mercosur (within the Agreement CONICET-CNR of Italy); and member of the Commission appointed by the Ministry of Justice to write the Commercial Societies Law (2002).

Renowned bioethicist, Mr. Bergel is author of numerous books and articles on civil law, commercial law, Intellectual Property and bioethics.

Studies:

Mr. Bergel has a Law degree from Universidad Nacional del Litoral (1954), a Graduate degree in Human Rights from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (1965), and a PhD in Judicial and Social Sciences from Universidad Nacional del Litoral. From 1965 to 1967 he was an OAS scholar.

Teaching Experience:

In the School of Law of the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Mr. Bergel is Professor of Corporate Law (since 1999); co-director of graduated courses in Intellectual Property (since 1995); head researcher of the Center for Industrial and Commercial Law (since 1990); and Chair of the UNESCO Bioethics Course (since 1992). He was also director of the Interdisciplinary Center of Industrial and Economic Law and of the Department of Economic and Corporate Law.
